EFFECT OF BED REST ON BONE TURNOVER AND CARDIAC FUNCTION IN YOUNG WOMEN HOSPITAL

This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The proposed study will examine the association between bed rest and bone turnover in hospitalized patients with AN. We will also examine the cardiac status of study subjects, since little is known about baseline cardiac function within this patient population. This is the first step in the investigation of exercise as a potential treatment against bone loss in this population.
