英文摘要
This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The purpose of this study is to examine why vein bypass grafts develop this narrowing. Evidence suggests that the development of blockages in blood vessels may be linked to abnormalities in the body's regulation of sugar and markers of inflammation that circulate in the blood. We will be studying if these markers are related to changes that occur in the bypass graft after surgery. Ultrasound studies and/or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the vein graft over time will help us understand the factors that cause some vein grafts to re-narrow.
