VIROLOGIC AND IMMUNOLOGIC EFFECTS OF ADDING ABACAVIR TO HIV PATIENTS

Determine if the addition of abacavir decreases viral replication in subjects with viral suppression achieved with indinavir and efavirenz. Estimate the decay rate of free virus after the addition of abacavir. Characterize HIV immune responses in a cohort of patients with sustained viral suppression for 4 years. Determine if increased and/or amplified HIV immune responses are observed when antiretroviral therapy is augmented with abacavir.
