This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The purpose of this study is to determine if rapid weight loss following Gastric Bypass Surgery affects the amount of energy the body requires to maintain itself. In addition, the effect of weight loss on body muscle, bone and fat will be examined.
