ANTIDEPRESSANT EFFECTS ON EARLY LIFE STRESS

This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. This study seeks to determine the effects of emotional treatment of people with major depression without and with a history of childhood physical or sexual abuse. Three major areas will be examined to determine the following: 1)which antidepressant is most effective in reducing feelings of depression, worry, anger or controlling behavior; 2) which antidepressant is more effective in normalizing aspects of physical function; and 3) whether changes in physical function mentioned above occur at the same time as improvement in emotional state.
