英文摘要
This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC) are related complex genetic disorders. We hypothesize that the specific risk alleles responsible for the observed linkage and association in the chromosone lp36 region will be found commonly in the American Chaldean population (a genetic isolate with a high prevalence of IBD) as well as outbred populations of Caucasian and African American populations with IBD.
