This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. This project will investigate the efficacy of task-activated fMRI as a biomarker for quantifying a therapeutic response in Parkinson's Disease (PD). The specific aims are to: (1) determine the sensitivity of task-activated fMRI for detecting changes in brain activation patterns occurring in PD patients on and off dopaminergic replacement therapy, (2) compare the relative sensitivity to therapeutic response of task-activated fMRI compared to established clinical outcome measures, and (3) determine the test-retest reliability of task-activated fMRI in healthy older adults.
