COGNITIVE, BEHAVIORAL AND PSYCHOSOCIAL CORRELATES OF MEDICATION ADHERENCE IN CHI

This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. PACTG 1042s is a cross-sectional study that will correlate cognitive, behavioral, and psychosocial functioning with the degree of responsibility for and adherence to antiretroviral medication regimens in children and adolescents with perinatally acquired HIV infection. It will also correlate cognitive, behavioral and psychosocial functioning with measures of virologic suppression and immunological status, and compare self-report and pill count measures of adherence. The study anticipates enrolling 200 evaluable participants. The population for this study consists of children and adolescents with perinatally acquired HIV-1 infection 8 to <19 years of age, who are enrolled and in active follow-up in PACTG 219c. The study stratification consists of two groups: Group A: <12 years of age Group B: >=12 years of age. This is a forty-eight week study.
