英文摘要
This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The SAFE (Syncope and Falls in the Elderly) laboratory has been established as a part of the NCRR-funded General Clinical Research Center at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center at Harvard Medical School. The Resource is assisting with data analysis and developing a customized data archive system for the SAFE laboratory. This service and collaborative effort enables detailed analysis of the effects of foot pressure during normal gait on feedback mechanisms modulating muscle strength, heart rate and blood pressure during normal gait and treadmill exercise. In addition, the relationship between cerebral blood flow on balance can be studied using a force platform. This protocol is unique in that it enables simultaneous evaluation of gait (feet pressure, center of pressure), cardiovascular function, respiratory function, electromyography, and cerebral and peripheral blood flow during normal gait.
