This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. This study proposes to evaluate amphotericin B alone or combined with fluconazle in the treatment of AIDS-associated cryptococcal meningitis. This is a multi-national, phase II randomized trial in which subjects will be recruited from multiple sites in both the US and Thailand. 10 subjects will be tested and monitored here at USC. The trial requires a period of infusion, a period of ingestion by mouth, and a follow-up period. All study procedures will be performed in the GCRC.
