英文摘要
This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the
resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and
investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source,
and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is
for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.
The Research Services Division facilitates primate research projects by providing quality technical assistance, specialized scientific procedures and access to information. Fee-for-service rates provide cost recovery. The cores are staffed with trained personnel and equipment; they report to the Associate Director, serving as Head of Research Services.
Assisted Reproductive Technology expands the production of specialized rhesus models using artificial insemination techniques such as ICSI and nuclear transfer. The lab has made progress in producing rhesus monkey stem cells.
Electrophysiology provides recordings from neurons in brain slices, from cells in tissue explants and from cultured cells that can be used to determine experimentally induced changes in the electrical properties of cells.
Endocrine Services provides assays for a wide variety of hormones and other substances.
Flow Cytometry provides flow analysis and cell sorting services and consultation.
Imaging and Morphology consolidates medical illustrations, photography and light microscopy services together with the confocal microscopy, image analysis facility and stereology.
Molecular and Cellular Biology provides the following services: generation of monkey and other cDNAs, automated sequencing, large scale plasmid and phage preparation, reagent supply, real-time PCR, media preparation, storage and amplification of cell lines, coated cultureware and slip covers, and transfection and cloning of cell lines.
Virology provides facilities, expertise, reagents, standardized assays, animal protocol management and training in the use of infectious agents for research programs.
In addition to these cores, the Center also provides support for other cores that provide important research services for Center scientists, including Spotted Microarray.
Affiliated scientists listed above are external investigators who are receipients of core services.
