This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the
resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and
investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source,
and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is
for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.
The GnRH Website project is making good progress in accomplishing its goal of delivering a web based interface to systems biology models of the GnRH pathway and related clinical and research resources. We have assembled a team of bioinformaticians (two Masters, and one PhD student from the OHSU Department of Medical Informatics & Clinical Epidemiology Biomedical Informatics program) being led by Dr. Christopher Dubay, who are all working on various aspects of the project. We have deployed an internal version of the web site, and are iteratively designing the functionality with ONPRC researchers; most actively Dr. Sergio Ojeda. The site currently contains an interactive signaling pathway for the GnRH receptor system with inter-element links annotated by literature references supporting the depicted interactions. The model will be extended to include the control of hypothalamic GnRH secretion and other mechanisms regulating GnRH neuronal activity. It will be also made more interactive by allowing users to make versions of models with user added annotations. These versions, including versions for various species, will be comparable in a way that helps visually highlight differences between versions (using informatics technologies such as Adobe SVG: http://www.adobe.com/svg/).
