Administrative Core Accomplishments + Hosted the 2007 Northeast Regional IDeA Meeting on August 15-17, 2007 which was held in Burlington, VT. Dr. James Battey, Director, NIDCD, NIH served as Keynote Speaker. Drs. W. Fred Taylor, Sidney McNairy, Krishan Arora and Linda Duffy of NIH attended the conference. UVM President Fogel addressed the guests on behalf of the University of Vermont. Governor James Douglas addressed the guests on behalf of the State of Vermont. + Held a NE Region Core Facilities workshop at the IDeA Meeting on August 16, 2008 + Held a Cyber Infrastructure workshop at the IDeA Meeting on August 16, 2008 + Appointed a faculty Proteomics Co-Director, Bryan Ballif, PhD + Conducted Reviews of Proposals in INBRE Project Year 3 for the following categories that will begin in Project Year 4: 1) New or Renewal BPI Faculty Project Grants 2) New or Renewal BPI Faculty Pilot Project Grants 3) BPI Student Summer Research Awards 4) UVM Graduate Student Assistantships 5) Pilot Projects for Use of UVM Facilities + Judith Van Houten, PI, attended the INBRE Meeting in Bethesda, MD, July 16, 2007 + Conducted an Internal Steering Committee Meeting  April 16, 2008 + Organized an External Advisory Committee all day meeting, October 1, 2007 + Worked extensively on the VGN database + Updated the VGN Poster + Will present the updated VGN Poster to state legislators in the Card Room at the Montpelier State House, May, 2008 + Conducted the 6th annual web based survey of VGN participants, March, 2008 + Hosted the 7th Annual Career Day, April 16, 2008 + Enhanced the VGN website on an ongoing basis + Currently organizing the annual visit from the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) team visit scheduled for June, 15-17, 2008 to review and advise VGN's annual assessment process + Judith Van Houten, PI and other VGN staff served on search committees for possible new UVM faculty hires + Created a VGN Newsletter  Fall, 2007  Currently working on the Spring, 2008 edition + Plans for PI to make site visits to BPI Institutions are underway: Castleton State College, June, 2008 and Middlebury College, May, 2008 + Held BPI Coordinator Meetings  August 16, 2007, October 1, 2007, April 16, 2008 + Organized faculty Professional Development Seminar with Middlebury College  January 26, 2008 + VGN staff are assisting with the planning of the North East Regional Life Sciences Core Directors (NERLSCD) Conference scheduled for October 22-24, that will be held in Burlington, VT
