This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. Funds in year 05 were provided to support two tenure track faculty that were recruited to Dartmouth: Dr. Jason Moore (Bioinformatics) and Dr. Scott Gerber, an expert in mass spectrometry. Dr. Jason Moore is the Director of Bioinformatics at Dartmouth. As noted above, he was recruited with COBRE Faculty Development funds. Dr. Moore has received several RO1 grants from the NIH since his arrival in August 2004, including one on lung injury, and he has published numerous papers. In addition, Dr. Moore submitted a new COBRE application in the fall of 2007 to establish a Bioinformatics Center. Dr. Moore is a key recruit since, as Director of Bioinformatics, he will work closely with the Proteomics Core and with four of the five COBRE research projects. Dr. Moore is a mentor of the COBRE renewal, which we understand will be renewed in 2008 for 5 years. Dr. Scott Gerber was promoted to the Director of Proteomics at Dartmouth in FY05. As noted above, he was recruited with COBRE Faculty Development funds. Dr. Gerber arrived on campus (March 1, 2006) has he has submitted several grants to the NIH since his arrival. Dr. Gerber is a key recruit since, as Director of Proteomics, he will work closely with the Bioinformatics Core and with all five COBRE research projects and the Pilot & Feasibility Projects. Dr. Gerber is a project leader on the COBRE renewal, which we understand will be renewed in 2008 for 5 years. Funds in year 05 were also utilized to support a Pilot & Feasibility Project by Dr. Deborah Hogan, an Assistant Professor of Microbiology. With approval of the Program Director at the NCRR Dr. Swiatecka-Urban graduated from the Program on 12/31/06 (PI of Project #2) and, subsequently, Dr. Hogan was appointed as PI of Project #2. Dr. Hogan is a project leader of the COBRE renewal, which we understand will be renewed in 2008 for 5 years.
