SUDDEN INFANT DEATH SYNDROME (SIDS) RISK REDUCTION IN AMERICAN INDIAN AND ALASKA

To enable American Indian (AI) and Alaska Native (AN) communities to reduce risks of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), the NICHD is collaborating with a small work group to develop a communications outreach plan. The plan will be based on findings in the meeting report, American Indian Infant Mortality: Community Driven Strategies. The objective is to convert and translate the information captured in the report into a communications and outreach plan, which will determine the most effective approaches to reach the regional American Indian and Alaska Native communities in the five Indian Health Services in the Northern Tier with the SIDS risk reduction messages.
