This core will be responsible for administrative leadership of a multidimensional project involving seven principal investigators, three core directors, and all of the staff and trainees involved in a substantive research program. The administrative core is further responsible for the organization of annual external reviews of the program that simultaneously brings 8-10 national leaders to Dallas for the purpose of contributing critical assessment of all four projects and all three technical cores. The administrative core is also responsible for organization of the PPG scientific meetings that take place every other Friday morning throughout the academic year. Finally, the administrative core is responsible for budgeting of all projects and all technical cores, as well as for regulating the appointment of trainees and staff that are associated with all aspects of this PPG. Dr. McKnight and Ms. Wiles have learned to work effectively as a team in directing the Administrative Core of this research program. The integrated administrative unit that directs this PPG is clearly more efficient than any alternative plan involving part-time efforts of individuals attached to any of the four projects or three technical cores. We will pool the administrative services that are common to all components of the application, including: ¿ Ordering of supplies and equipment- The purchase of supplies and equipment by each investigator will be the responsibility of the administrative core to assure compliance with Federal guidelines. ¿ Budgets-The administrative core will oversee and administer all budgets in order to maintain compliance with Federal guidelines and local guidelines. ¿ Report Preparation-The administrative core will be responsible for preparation of progress reports and time and effort reports for the projects with the help of the principal investigators. ¿ General Duties - Theadministrative core will beresponsible for the following: Preparation and submission of all peer reviewedjournal articles and manuscripts related to this program project. Submission of on-line to recruit and appoint personnel employed by the projects. Schedule and organize weekly meetings and annual reviews. Organize conferences and seminars given by investigators.
