ASSESSMENT MEASURES FOR PRIMARY PREVENTION TRIALS IN ALZHEIMERS DISEASE

This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The objective of the Healthy Aging and Memory Study is to develop new or improved instruments and assessment methods for evaluating changes in memory in the elderly population. Improved efficacy in cognitive evaluation will better enable researchers to determine if drugs offer therapeutic benefits. Additionally, early identification of cognitive changes will enable the elderly to benefit from potentially promising treatments to slow the progression of Alzheimer's disease and, for some, to perhaps even prevent the disease in the future.
