英文摘要
This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the
resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and
investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source,
and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is
for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.
The goal of this study is to test the hypothesis that surgical anastomosis of the superficial artery to the middle cerebral artery (STA-MCA) when added to best medical therapy can reduce by 40%, despite perioperative stroke and death, the combined total of perirandomization stroke and death and subsequent ipsilateral ischemic stroke at two years in patients with recently (< 120 days) symptomatic internal carotid artery occlusion.
