This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The purpose of this study is to evaluate and compare attention and self-regulation of preterm infants on standardized measures. Specifically by measuring physiological and behavioral responses during social and cognitive challenges, we hope to add to what is known about the developmental profile of preterm infants. Performance on social and cognitive challenges will be compared to understand the underlying role that early elements of self-regulation may have on different aspects of development.
