英文摘要
This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. This is an observational cohort study over a 5 year period from October 2003 through July 2008 that has a recruitment goal of 540 children with mild to moderate kidney dysfunction with an estimated glomerular filtration rate from 30 to 90 ml/min/1.73m2 ranging in age from 1 through 16 years. 402/540 (75%) enrollment goal as of 1.16/07 has been meet with a retention of 95.3% at 6 month follow up visit. The goals of the study are to define risk factors for chronic kidney disease (CKD) progression and to define the effects of CKD progression on: neurocognitive developmental function, prevalence of cardiovascular disease risk factors, and growth failure. The scientific domains and key measures involve questionnaires and forms, iohexol-based GFR, cystatin C and serum creatinine, echo and ambulatory blood pressure measurement, cognitive development and behavioral assessment, tanner staging and parathyroid hormone measurement, and stored biological samples and genetic studies.
