This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the
resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and
investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source,
and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is
for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.
T-box (Tbx) transcription factors are highly conserved across species, expressed in a wide variety of tissue types, and are required for development of diverse organs and tissues. T-box genes regulate patterning and cell fate, cell survival and/or proliferation, and are also of great clinical relevance. Tbx18 is a T-box transcription factor that has been described as being expressed from earliest stages in the proepicardial organ. To study the role of Tbx18 for heart development and its clinical relevance for human congenital heart disease, I have generated a null allele mouse of Tbx18. We would like to do some TEM analysis to determine cardiac defects of Tbx18 null mouse, by comparing them with wild type littermates.
