The Administrative Core The Center Director, Prof. Leona Samson, is appointed by the MIT Vice President for Research and she is in charge of Administrative Core with assistance from the Deputy Director, Prof. Peter Dedon, and from the Business Manager, Ms. Gertraud Gillen. (The appointment of Prof. Peter Dedon as Deputy Director was approved enthusiastically by the NIEHS.) Ms. Gillen is assisted by a fiscal officer (Ms. Kathleen Reposa) and a staff assistant (Ms. Davicia Smith). Technical assistance with computer systems and information technology for the Center is provided by the Center IT Specialist, Ms. Patricia Brown. The Environmental Health and Safety Officer, Mr. Joseph Glogowski, is responsible for monitoring safety issues related to radiation, chemical and biological hazards in the Center in accord with MIT Environmental Health and Safety guidelines.
