This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to provide a screening process to determine eligibility of potential study participants for an unspecified human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) vaccine trial. Participants: Healthy male and female study participants between the ages of 18 and 50 who are uninfected with HIV-1 virus. Procedures (methods): There will be 2 study visits that can occur anytime at least 2 weeks prior to enrollment in a vaccine study. The first visit involves a physical exam, health history, and blood and urine tests. The second visit will be a review of the results of the tests which will determine eligibility to enroll in vaccine studies.
