This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the
resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and
investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source,
and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is
for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.
This cross-sectional, pilot study will examine numerous health status variables among women during the first year post-treatment for stage I, II, and III abdominal and breast solid tumor cancers.
The specific aims for this pilot study:
Specific Aim 1: Describe women in terms of their health status as well as psychosocial indicators of health status during the first year post treatment for stage I, II, or III solid tumor cancers.
Specific Aim 2. Describe women regarding their survivorship experiences regarding resource needs, greatest challenges, previous history of exercise, and their perceived readiness and the best timing to initiate an exercise program after treatment.
Specific Aim 3. Evaluate participant recruitment and the feasibility of obtaining measures 0-12 months following cancer treatment.
This study will examine variables in 40 women aged 21 and older with stage I, II, or III solid tumor cancers including abdominal (colorectal), genitourinary (renal, uterine, ovarian, cervical), and breast cancer. Outcome measures will be determined in the sample of women at 4 time points post-treatment, including 0-3 months, 3-6 months, 6-9 months, and 9-12 months.
