英文摘要
This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. This study is to test the hypothesis that compared to giving prednisone in the morning; giving prednisone at night will result in lower insulin and glucose levels in subjects with normal glucose tolerance. To evaluate the metabolic benefit of giving prednisone at night, the PI will compare insulin and glucose levels over 24 hours in crossover studies on a regulated diet in the GCRC in 2 normal volunteers who receive a single 60 mg dose of prednisone at 8 am vs. 8 pm.
