英文摘要
PROJECT SUMMARY/ABSTRACT
Camelid VHH antibodies or Nanobodies are a compelling new class of antibodies for biomedical applications.
Nanobodies are characterized by small size, robust fold, and high stability. Despite their small size and
monomeric binding, they retain high affinity and selectivity for antigen binding. In addition, nanobodies can be
readily produced with low cost from microbes. They are ideal modular proteins for bioengineering and have
shown promising potential in facilitating disease diagnosis and therapy.
Here we propose to develop integrative technologies to facilitate nanobody discovery and characterization. In
parallel, we will apply our methods and tool nanobodies to enable biomedical discoveries and therapeutics. In
this supplement application, we request funds to obtain a sensitive HPLC device (Shimazu HPLC Nexera 40)
to support our proposed science related to nanobody identification and biophysical, structural and functional
characterizations.
