The first two years of this program involved taking the necessary steps to establish this program. That is, putting the infrastructure in place to enable the automated extraction, pre-fractionation and initial purification of the extract library. This included: renovating laboratory space, purchasing equipment to scale up production and getting it online and creating standard operating procedures as well as hiring and training staff. In addition, a bioinformatics platform is being developed which will include an internal database and public-facing tools. This past year has seen the public announcement of the program, the publication of three significant manuscripts describing the program, the pre fractionation methodology, the secondary purification of active natural products and the crating and screening of natural product libraries. In addition we have now released the first 326,000 NP fractions to the research community. In this fiscal year, 2,500,000 fractions have been shipped to various screening laboratories. In addition IBC and USDA approvals were obtained to allow the microbial extract production facility to begin work. In addition 4500 marine invertebrate samples and 6700 marine microbe samples were imported from Australia.
