The creation of the Translational Addiction Medicine Branch (TAMB) began during this fiscal year, therefore efforts have been primarily focused in the planning stage to put the necessary resources (human, space and material) in place to support its well-defined mission. Under the leadership of Dr. Leggio, the creation and development of the administrative, management, clinical and scientific infrastructure, goals and vision of this new Branch has started and the plan is to complete its start-up phase at the beginning of next fiscal year, when TAMB will reach its steady-state. The TAMB teams will conduct basic science work, in-patient and outpatient human research and/or large survey and online studies at the National Institute on Drug Abuse Intramural Research Program,Johns Hopkins Bayview campus, Baltimore, MD. Collaborations with the other Branches of the NIDA IRP, with the NIA IRP in the Bayview campus, as well as with other IRPs in the main campus (e.g. NIAAA, NIMH, NHGRI, NIDDK, NIMHD, and others) and with academic Centers will be key to the mission and vision of the TAMB teams.
