英文摘要
Strip casting is an important process utilized in the fabrication of aluminum sheet metal, providing the step where liquid metal is formed into its solid shape.  This forming process is done optimally to meet specific requirements in the final material.  One of the critical requirements is a high degree of surface quality, maintainable across a wide range of alloys and processing conditions.  The focus of this research is to develop a basic understanding of the surface formation process in strip casting.  One outcome of the research will be a  mathematical model to predict the influence of processing conditions on surface quality.  A primary objective of the research is to enable a wider range of aluminum sheet products to be utilized in automotive assemblies, thus taking advantage of its low weight and excellent corrosion resistance in building more efficient automobiles.
