An ultracentrifuge is requested for shared use of eight bioresearch groups in the Department of Chemical Engineering of University of Waterloo. It will be implemented for conducting routine experimental processing, such as cell harvest, ultrafiltration, protein purification, biomolecule separation, sucrose-gradient centrifugation, etc.  Currently, there is no floor-model centrifuge functioning in this department and the lack of this instrument has jeopardised many ongoing research because centrifugation is a generic and routine bioprocessing step used for almost all types of bioengineering research. The proposed equipment is very essential for all the applicants.
