The stereomicroscope or trinocular microscope from Olympus model SZX10 is became a very important equipment to pursue my research. Indeed, it is a requirement to determine the fetal sex early in gestation, before gestation day 15 where, without such equipment, it is impossible to sex with confidence. The model we have chosen is composed with an advance Galilean optical system providing real image with true colors, high resolution and no distortion. In addition it is ergonomic and has a completely new three-eyepiece design featuring pupil aberration control and appropriate positioning in the eye point for each person. The Galilean optical system uses parallel light paths for outstanding performance and easy expandability. It offers a magnification range allowing any given specimen to be observed in situ at the most appropriate magnification. It also offers the best resolving power in this class with superior quality objectives that delivers accurate, high resolution observation images. The careful selection of lens surface coating and glass materials in the entire optical system make it possible to observe and document specimens in their original, authentic colors in their in situ position. It also presents sharp, clear and high-contrast images. Indeed, the low and suppressed field curvature ensures accurate reproduction of original specimen shapes. This equipment will in use by all members of my laboratory (3 PhD, 3 MSc, 1 post doctoral fellow and 1 research assistant) and will speed-up our experimental successes.
