This project will develop some statistical tools for the analysis of high-dimensional data arising from medical research, environmental studies, signals, images, and industrial processes. This includes for example images of faces, handwriting, spectrums of speech, global climate pattern, human gene, internet portal, life time data, etc. Some of the tools for analysing such high-dimensional data involve ranking and sorting of multivariate data by using a concept called data depth. Multivariate U-processes, influence functions, quantiles, and ranking are part of the basic statistical toolkit.
