The goal of this pre-research proposal is to obtain funding to allow the members of a Canadian group of scientists to take part in the development of an ICDP (International Continental Drilling Project) proposal that aims at retrieving and studying a set of long (>100 m) sediment cores from Laguna Potrok Aike, southern Patagonia, Argentina. The study of these lacustrine sediments will enable us reconstruct the climate of the last 770 000 years. This pre-research proposal aims at supporting our group to be represented in different meetings to develop a full ICDP proposal, and to allow the group to hold workshops in order to prepare a full proposal to be submitted to NSERC SRO.
