A Riemann surface is a 2 dimensional space which carries an analytic structure.  The proposal is to study the symmetries of these surfaces.  A particular example is given by the Platonic solids, but there are infinitely many non-euclidean examples.Configuration spaces are finite sets of points in some space.  Knowledge of these spaces gives a great deal of insight into many of the important problems of mathematics.
