The development of biomechanical models that discriminate the synergistic motion patterns in human movement related to task performance is essential in both building knowledge of potential patterns of musculoskeletal risk as well as identifying accommodations in coordination as a result of physical, environmental or biomechanical changes resulting from the work task. Current models have been limited to sagittal plane tasks involving little to no out of plane activity, due in part to limitations imposed by motion tracking systems.    The proposal is a request for a wireless electromagnetic motion tracking system for use in our occupational biomechanics laboratory.  Many industrial tasks require a large collection volume and the monitoring of complex and asymmetrical motions for proper biomechanical modeling.  To monitor these tasks requires a motion tracking system that is unencumbered by wires and occlusion (associated with opto-electric systems) while permitting flexibility in the collection space to accommodate various tasks.
