This research tools and instruments application is for dynamic light scattering equipment to determine the size of particles in solution. In particular, the proposed equipment will permit the sizing of particles in the nanometer to micron range. Access to this type of equipment is currently absent in the Department of Chemistry at UBC. The lack of such equipment is severely hindering researchers working in the broad areas of polymer science, nanochemistry, materials science, atmospheric science and biological chemistry. Consequently, acquisition of this equipment is urgently needed and will benefit many researchers in the department including, but not limited to, the PI and co-applicants on this proposal.
