The UBC-Chemistry Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Facility is the only facility on campus that is open to chemistry faculty and students for regular NMR analysis. This facility is critical to the success and training of ca. 250 chemistry trainees at the undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral levels along with other members of the UBC research community, local companies and government laboratories. Currently, the facility houses four NMR Bruker spectrometers: AV600cryo, AV400inv, AV400dir and AV300. Existing instrumentation is between 9-15 years old and is beginning to show signs of age with increasing downtime needed for repairs and maintenance. Furthermore, NMR technology has improved significantly since the last upgrade to instrumentation in the facility in 2004.
