Until recently most studies of human visual perception have been under controlled laboratory conditions, with a subject's eyes and head in fixed positions to simplify the experiments. But in real life we see while our eyes and head are moving, and these movements enable a more rich perception of the world. This proposal involves research for measuring a human subject's natural, unrestrained eye and head movements while making perceptual judgements of contolled visual stimuli designed to mimic key aspects of natural images. This research is important in advancing our understanding of how human vision operates under more natural conditions in the real world.
