We are increasing the market potential for a recently patented sample introduction interface for mass spectrometry. This new interface allows direct measurement and real time monitoring for environmentally relevant contaminants. This new technology, called thermally assisted membrane introduction mass spectrometry (TAMIMS), will provide a cost effective method for high-throughput screening of a wide range of environmental samples. The simplicity of TAMIMS interface technology, coupled with its fast and sensitive measurement capability (no sample pretreatments needed), provide a realistic alternative to conventional strategies in the environmental diagnostic sector.
