In the context of optimizing the grinding media charge characteristics to improve ball milling performances, COREM has been developing over the last years an off-line simulator mainly based on the ITASCA software DEM simulation package. The simulator, referred to as CORSim in the frame of this project, development includes three main components: grinding media wear, energy and event distributions within the ball mill, and ore breakage. Over this development, a number of questions have been raised that require further research and validation.
