This request is for a state-of-the-art, 2-channel ultrasonic blood flow meter and ancillary flow probes. Accurate measurement of blood flow rates is a routine and critical component of my NSERC Discovery Grant research program. This equipment will replace a 2-channel blood flow meter that became obsolete this year. I know of only one manufacturer (Transonic) with a system suitable for our applications. Beyond being the "gold standard" for measuring blood flow, we have had extremely good service and productivity from our aged (10 & 17 yo) Transonic blood flow meters. For example, 19 refereed publications during just the last 6 years, including one that appeared in Science, involved blood flow measurements.
