Upgrades to microscope imaging equipment for use at Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre

This proposal requests equipment that will upgrade an existing microscope imaging system for stereo light microscopy. The proposed upgrades will provide lenses to allow the highest magnification imaging possible on a currently available microscope, and at the same time will create a second imaging station for imaging large objects using wide-field. The new equipment will improve the level of magnification we are able to image (up to 63x) allowing us to image minute embryos and protozoans, as well as access to high quality imaging of large organisms. The proposed camera will use standard resolution for light microscopy and a pared down version of the image capture software currently used at the marine labs for ease of use and file transfer between systems. The dual system will greatly enhance access to imaging and thereby training of our graduate students.
