Modern methods for solving complex mathematical and statistical problems rely on substantial computational resources. Mathematicians and Statisticians at the University of Victoria use computational resources: to estimate parameters in stochastic models used in medicine, finance, forestry and wildlife management; to explore conjectures in pure mathematics and combinatorics to solve problems in transportation and cellular networks; and to solve large systems of equations for disease transmission models and climate change.
