The mission of the Centre de recherches mathématiques (CRM) is to do research in mathematics and closely related disciplines and to provide leadership in the development of the mathematical sciences in Canada and worldwide. The CRM carries its mission and national mandate in several ways, notably through thematic semesters, extensive postdoctoral fellowship program, and an important publication program. This national mandate is complemented by a long-standing vocation of promoting research in the mathematical sciences in Québec and Eastern Canada, notably through the support of eight research laboratories. While a lot of the research activities of the CRM members and their teams (including some scientific workshops) take place in the various host departments and therefore rely on the computers of these departments, an important fraction of them take place directly at CRM.
