Over the past few years, there has been a dramatic increase of interest in large scale batteries for energy storage, especially for the transportation sector including electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs). However, current commercial cathode and anode materials of lithium ion batteries cannot meet the demand and need siginicant improvement in many performance.
