A large body of evidence indicates that cell mechanical differences can potentially be used as a cue in the detection of human diseases such as cancers because the change in cell mechanical properties can quantitatively reflect their disease states. The use of mechanical differences for clinical applications is not yet clinically feasible because existing mechanical techniques suffer from a low characterization throughput.
