As societal concerns on global issues such as climate change, depletion of fossil fuels, and global economical problems have increased; the academic and industrial focus on the usage of resources in an efficient, economic, and environmentally friendly way has also increased. In this regard, integrated Solid Oxide Fuel Cells and biomass gasification systems are one of the most promising energy technologies of the future. Usage of this system to utilize biomass yields better performance and reduces environmental impact compared to the conventional biomass utilization technologies, e.g. steam turbine and internal combustion engine. However, to get the most benefit from this system, the configurations and operating parameters of this system should be optimized. This can be done through modeling. This is crucial for designers and operators of such systems, there is no large scale design or operation data currently available.
