The main objective of this program is to develop the full potential of melt-state extrusion/processing for the efficient fabrication of polymeric drug/biochemical controlled delivery systems for use in pharmaceutics or tissue-engineering applications. The main advantages of melt-state processing in the pharmaceutical and biomedical sector are the absence of residual solvents, the outstanding mixing and concentration uniformity, the ability to shape the material in 3D and the high productivity and the scalability to commercial production. Specific objectives of the program will be to:
