The main objective of this proposal is to study the effect of polypropylene (PP) rheological behavior and molecular orientation on spinnability, structure, and properties of melt-spun PP filaments. Focus will be done on the optimization of twin-screw extrusion processing conditions to produce high performance fibers that will be used for carpet production by a Canadian company 'Venture Capet' located in Saint-Georges (QC) in collaboration with Textile Rubber & Chemical Company (TRCC Canada).
