Today's and tomorrow's ultra-low energy (net-zero energy or carbon neutral) buildings pose significant challenges to the energy performance simulation tools that are typically used in the design process. These challenges come from the hybrid nature of HVAC systems (Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning systems) and from the requirement to integrate control strategies into the design process.
